About Free Running Model Test System
The Free Running Test (FRT) System is designed to evaluate the manoeuvring performance of model ships under realistic operating conditions. The system enables remote control of the propeller and rudder from a shore-based station, allowing both manual and automatic navigation tests.
Key Features
- Remote Operation:
The model ship is controlled wirelessly from land, enabling precise control of propulsion and steering systems.
- Real-Time Processing:
A real-time processor installed onboard the model ship allows for continuous control and data acquisition during experiments.
- Data Acquisition & Transmission:
Measured data is :
- Stored onboard the model ship
- Simultaneously transmitted wirelessly to a shore-based computer
- Displayed and analysed in real time
- Motion Tracking System:
The system uses:
- Multiple CCD cameras installed onshore
- LED markers mounted on the model ship
This enables accurate tracking and analysis of the ships trajectory and motion behavior.
Test Modes
The FRT System supports a wide range of standard maneuvering tests, including:
- Z-Test
- Spiral Test
- Reverse Spiral Test
- Turning Circle Test
- Pull-Out Test
- Speed Trial Test
- Crash Stop Test
- Autopilot Test
- Other customized tests
Applications
- Ship maneuverability studies
- Hydrodynamic research
- Naval architecture experiments
- Performance validation of ship designs
